Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 359,750 last week to 360,000 this week.

The report dated 3 January 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 22 December 2012. During this week, 2,219 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,749 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,632 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 140 from the prior week and decrease of 224 from same week in 2011).
• 19,150 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 769 from the prior week and decrease of 3,176 from same week in 2011).
• 6,875 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 37 from the prior week and decrease of 5,760 from the same week in 2011).
