Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report 2 January 2014

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 357,250, an increase of 8,500 from the previous week's revised average of 348,750.

The report dated 2 January 2014 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 28 December 2013. During this week, 2,019 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,455 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

  • 2,687 initial UI claims filed (increase of 81 from the prior week and decrease of 85 from same week in 2012).
  • 17,531 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 935 from the prior week and decrease of 851 from same week in 2012).
  • 2,957 continued Extended Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) weeks claimed (increase of 20 from the prior week and decrease of 3,955 from the same week in 2012).
